Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. The MLS will perform routine tests on blood and specimens, delivering quality results to physicians while ensuring patient safety and data confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a nationally recognized agency (preferably ASCP) (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner per lab procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or by recognizing abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and takes appropriate action per protocols.
• Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by equipment checks and cleaning the area.
