Job summary

North Florida Surgeons, P.A. is hiring a full-time Back Office Assistant in Jacksonville to support front office teams, greet patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and schedule appointments. You will post charges using CPT/ICD10 codes and help maintain efficient clinic operations.

The ideal candidate is dynamic, detail-oriented, with strong communication and multitasking abilities, proficient in Microsoft Office, and familiar with Availity EMR/EHR and insurance workflows.

Qualifications

• Must be dynamic, energetic, and detail oriented.
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to multi-task.
• Complies with all Federal, State, HIPPA, and OSHA guidelines and policies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word.
• Experience with major EMR/EHR systems (Availity) and insurance authorizations preferred.
• Must provide two professional references with contact details.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in person and via telephone and referrals.
• Schedule appointments following office protocols.
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility; communicate co-pays and deductibles.
• Explain benefits clearly to patients; assist with referrals for visits.
• Post charges to patient accounts using CPT/ICD10 codes and modifiers.
• Collect and post co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles at time of service; manage balances.
• Maintain office routines; align activities to goals and initiatives.
• Answer calls, letters, and correspondence in a timely manner.
• Maintain personnel files and practice calendars/schedules.
