Position Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
2. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs independently to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues, utilize advanced technology platforms for compliance, and document troubleshooting efforts.
4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within your territory.
5. Support various locations in your assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Additional certifications, military experience, or related training may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessments for credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows/email, navigation, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility for scheduling, including potential overnight, early, or late hours.

Compensation and Benefits
