Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures, and provide installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units.

This is STERIS's newest field division, focused on GI/Endoscopy low temperature washers, sterilizers, drying and storage cabinets. Its products are closely tied to STERIS's most prolific product line of washers and sterilizers.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful in this role.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. Candidates must be based out of Minnesota to support and service customers in this territory.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician:

1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
2. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, installations, upgrades, and other duties.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate issues and utilize technology platforms to ensure compliance and document troubleshooting.
4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
5. Support various locations within your territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Related certifications or military experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including email, navigation, and data entry.
• Flexibility for schedules with potential overnight and early/late hours.
• Compliance with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.
