Job summary

TÜV SÜD America, Inc. is seeking a Medical Device Safety Test Engineer in New Brighton to support evaluation, testing, and certification of medical electrical equipment and in‑vitro devices.

You will work with customers, lab personnel, and senior engineers to ensure safety and regulatory compliance for global market access. You will perform electrical safety and EMC pre‑compliance tests, review technical documents, and contribute to documentation and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years in electrical product safety testing, medical device compliance, or related lab work.
• Knowledge of electrical safety principles and test methodologies.
• Experience using lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, hipot testers, leakage current analyzers, environmental chambers, and power analyzers.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced technical environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical safety testing for medical devices per applicable standards.
• Conduct leakage current, dielectric strength, grounding, temperature, abnormal operation, and EMC pre‑compliance tests.
• Support compliance assessments to IEC/UL/EN 60601-1, 60601-1-2, 61010-1 and related standards.
• Review schematics, BOMs, insulation diagrams, risk files, labeling and manuals.
• Assist testing and certification projects for patient monitoring, lab equipment, and diagnostic devices.
• Prepare test records, engineering documents, and technical reports under senior guidance.
• Communicate project status and test findings to customers and internal teams.
• Support lab operations including setup, calibration, maintenance, and quality activities.
• Participate in training on medical device standards and certification programs.
