Job summary

Join TUV SUD America as a Junior Electrical Safety Engineer, supporting safety testing for electrical and medical products. You will work under senior engineers on standards like IEC/UL/CSA and help document test results and technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in electrical product safety testing, compliance engineering, product certification, or a related laboratory environment.
• Basic knowledge of IEC/UL/CSA 62368-1, 60601-1, 61010-1, 60335-1, or similar standards.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, hipot testers, leakage current testers, environmental chambers, and multimeters.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support product safety evaluations and testing activities for electrical and medical products.
• Perform routine electrical safety testing, including input, leakage current, dielectric strength, temperature, abnormal operation, stability, mechanical, and flammability evaluations.
• Assist with product assessments and component evaluations at client and TUV SUD facilities in accordance with standards such as EN/IEC/UL/CSA 62368-1, 60601-1, 61010-1, 60335-1, and related requirements.
• Review technical documentation, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), user manuals, and product construction details to support compliance investigations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate test data, engineering records, and technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Communicate project status, testing requirements, and technical findings to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support laboratory operations, including test setup preparation, calibration coordination, equipment maintenance, and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality requirements.
• Participate in technical training and professional development activities related to product safety standards, testing methodologies, and certification programs.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers on emerging technologies, including consumer electronics, laboratory equipment, industrial equipment, EV charging systems, and energy storage products.
