Job summary

TÜV SÜD America Inc. is seeking an EMC Test Engineer – Automotive & EMC Compliance in New Brighton, MN. You will perform EMC testing to support regulatory compliance for automotive and electronic products in an accredited laboratory environment.

You will handle EMI and radiated/ conducted tests, maintain instrumentation, prepare reports, and collaborate with customers. Opportunity for second/third shift and domestic/international travel is noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Strong mechanical and automotive aptitude.
• Knowledge of EMC, EMI, and electrical testing principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work second or third shift and travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform EMC testing in accordance with national and international standards at TÜV SÜD facilities and at customer locations.
• Execute conducted and radiated emissions and immunity testing using specialized equipment.
• Operate and maintain EMC instrumentation (EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, ESD systems).
• Support automotive EMC testing activities, including vehicle- and component-level evaluations.
• Assist with calibration, verification, preventive maintenance, and operational readiness of lab equipment.
• Prepare test documentation, engineering records, and technical reports to meet quality and accreditation requirements.
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory requirements.
• Communicate technical findings and project updates to customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of evolving EMC standards and testing methodologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for lab efficiency and testing quality.
