Job summary

The coder/abstracter at MUSC Community Physicians will assign accurate codes for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services based on the patient record, using ICD-10 and CPT editions and following official coding guidelines.

The role requires 2+ years of coding experience in a specialty area, with RHIT/CCS/CPC or equivalent credentials. This on-site position supports MUSC Health's Revenue Cycle and adheres to all related policies.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: 2+ years of coding experience in a specialty area is required.
• Licensure/Certification: RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-A, or other coding credential required.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures and conditions from the patient medical record.
• Follow official coding guidelines from AMA, AHA, AHIMA.
• Adhere to MUSC Health policies and procedures.
