Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians seeks a skilled coder/abstracter to assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes across inpatient, outpatient and emergency visits. You will ensure compliance with AMA, AHA, and AHIMA guidelines, and MUSC policies.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of coding experience in a specialty area, and credentials such as RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC.

Qualifications

• Proficient in assigning diagnoses and procedures to medical records using ICD-10 and CPT
• Attention to documentation accuracy and coding guidelines adherence
• Experience with coding in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services (2+ years)

Responsibilities

• The coder/abstracter is responsible for accurate code assignment of all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record.
• All coding is in accordance with official coding guidelines from the AMA, AHA, and AHIMA, and MUSC policies and procedures.
