Job summary

Holyoke Medical Center Orthopedics & Sports Center is seeking a Medical or Clinical Assistant to support patient flow and clinical reporting requirements. You will review charts, verify EMR data, room patients, and assist with examinations and injections.

Responsibilities include coordinating follow-up care, managing prescriptions, maintaining EMR records, and ensuring clean, stocked exam rooms. A multi-tasking, English-proficient candidate with a health services background is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program with ABHES or CAAHEP accreditation; must be certified within six months with RMA/AMT, CMA/AAMA, or CCMA/NHA.
  • EMT Certification in Massachusetts or CNA Certification in Massachusetts as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify EMR documentation, lab results, and visit information before appointments.
  • Room patients and document vital signs, medical history, medications, and allergies in the EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures with clear communication and address questions.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including injections and delegated tasks.
  • Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies for approvals.
  • Schedule follow-ups, referrals, and diagnostic testing; provide patient education resources.
  • Maintain accurate EMR records with timely documentation and EMR messaging.
  • Prepare, stock, clean, and organize exam rooms; sterilize and transport instruments; ensure supplies.

Our Orthopedics & Sports Center Practice is seeking a Medical or Clinical Assistant to perform duties within the scope of a medical assistant with additional tasks related to patient flow in the office and clinical reporting requirements.

Overview of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

This role requires knowledge of physician office billing procedures, medical terminology, basic administrative skills such as typing and filing, and proficiency with computer systems. Candidates should also possess the manual dexterity, attention to detail, and physical capabilities needed to safely perform clinical and administrative duties, including tasks such as venipuncture and patient assistance.
