Position Overview

The Billing Specialist provides high-quality billing services to OCHIN Billing Services (OBS) member clinics, focusing on payor follow-up and denial management. The role involves identifying high-risk accounts, improving collections, and streamlining processes.

Essential Duties

1. Manage accounts receivable to maximize reimbursement and support financial health.
2. Bill Medicare, Medicaid, self-pay/uninsured, and commercial insurance according to payer and organizational policies.
3. Monitor accounts, check claim status, resubmit claims, file appeals, and report overdue accounts.
4. Post payments and remittances, correct claim errors, and resolve credit balances.
5. Provide customer service to patients regarding account balances.
6. Perform billing-related projects, data entry, and registration updates.
7. Maintain accurate billing records and communicate with stakeholders while ensuring confidentiality per HIPAA.
8. Improve collection strategies and processes collaboratively.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Experience with FQHC/RHC and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• EPIC experience and familiarity with billing processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance are desirable.
