Estimated Hourly Salary: $31.00 - $50.00

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time/Contract

The primary responsibilities of the Billing Specialist I include recording all client transactions, preparing invoices for claim submission, following up on payments, and reconciling all Accounts Receivable.

Educational Requirements

2+ years' experience as a medical biller or in a similar role.

Experience Required

• Solid knowledge of Billing Concepts, Medical Terminology, Behavioral Health Billing, and Electronic Medical Records.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel and Word.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit billing data to third-party payers through our Billing System.
• Reconcile data and correct errors for batch submission.
• Accurate data entry of all client/patient information.
• Post payments from third-party payers and self-pay clients, follow-up on missed payments, and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Review referrals/authorizations and handle insurance verification/eligibility updates.
• Handle billing inquiries from clients and front desk staff.
• Process rejected claims, correct errors, and resubmit.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Analyze and manage aging accounts receivable reports.
• Maintain EHR/Billing System updates, including rate changes and fee schedules.
• Resolve billing issues and disputes by contacting insurance companies.
