Ascension is seeking a Medical Assistant in Jacksonville, FL to prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians with procedures, and manage clinical logistics. The role includes recording vital signs and medical histories, maintaining patient charts, and performing clerical duties to ensure smooth, high-quality patient care.

The position requires BLS within 30 days of hire, with Medical Assistant experience and relevant certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire; accepted by AHA/Red Cross.
• Medical Assistant preferred.
• National MA certifications (CMA, RMA, AMT) acceptable sites (NCCT/AAMA/AMT).
• Completion of Basic Machine Operators (BMO) cert preferred.
• Current FL registration as a BMO Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician with procedures and treatments.
• Record patient vital signs and medical histories in charts accurately.
• Manage clinical logistics: prep of treatment rooms; maintain supplies and equipment.
• Perform essential clerical duties: answer phones, filing, and maintaining patient records.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.
• Nat'l Medical Assistant (MA) Certification preferred - CMA (Cert. Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant)/AAMA Cert. (American Association of Medical Assistants). NCCT, AAMA, or AMT are acceptable certification sites.
• Completion of Basic Machine Operators (BMO) cert. preferred.
• Current registration with State of FL as a BMO Operator preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
