Job summary

Ascension Medical Group Clinic in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Medical Assistant to support Heart Care. You will assist providers, take vital signs, interview patients, and document histories for accurate records. You will also transcribe orders and help manage medical records and inventory to ensure smooth clinic operations.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and Medical Assistant certification; BLS must be obtained within 1 month of hire. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification required or to be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures while maintaining sterile and organized treatment rooms.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record medical histories in patient charts to streamline clinic workflow.
• Transcribe provider orders for labs, imaging, and prescriptions with precise documentation of diagnoses and follow-up instructions.
• Manage administrative duties including medical records, clerical support, and inventory to ensure smooth clinic daily operations.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures while maintaining sterile and organized treatment rooms.

• Transcribe provider orders for labs, imaging, and prescriptions, ensuring all diagnoses and follow-up instructions are documented with high precision.
• Manage essential administrative duties, including medical record maintenance, clerical support, and inventory management to ensure seamless clinic daily operations.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Certified or Registered both accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting Program
• 2 years back office experienced preferred
• Medical Assistant Certification
