The Medical Assistant will support physicians in various patient care tasks, including clerical, environmental, and organizational duties, ensuring patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
- Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
- Relay instructions to patients and families.
- Manage medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, and complete necessary forms.
- Prepare and organize charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance and demographics.
- Set up exam rooms, maintain infection control, and manage supplies.
- Organize patient flow and answer calls with pertinent information and education.
- Perform clinic procedures, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs.
- Assist physicians with procedures and comply with regulatory standards.
- Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision, if qualified.
- Handle other front office duties as required and adhere to system-wide competencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and clinical responsibilities.
Senior Medical Assistant Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent (LPN/RN/EMT), or certification (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA), or at least 1 year of patient care experience.
- Proficiency in practice-specific tasks and basic clinical skills.
Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on their experience and education within the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.
Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances
- CPR certification per AHA standards within 30 days of hire, including both didactic and skills demonstration.
- Clearances dated within 90 days of hire, including Act 34 and BLS or CPR.
