Medical Assistant - Colon Rectal Surgery

Position Overview

The Colon Rectal Surgery department is seeking a Medical Assistant to support 1-2 providers during a busy work environment. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with no weekends or holidays. The salary range is $18.12 - $27.76, based on experience, and a $1500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams.
• Collect patient information, take vitals, perform screenings, and relay instructions.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain and manage lab reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
• Prepare and organize patient charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient demographics.
• Set up exam rooms, maintain infection control, and manage supplies.
• Coordinate patient flow and answer calls with pertinent information and education.
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform clinic procedures per policy.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all policies and regulations.
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision, as appropriate.
• Perform other front office and clinical duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and clinical responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications for Senior Medical Assistant

• Completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent, or certification (AMT, AAMA, NHA, etc.), or at least 1 year of patient care experience.
• Proficiency in practice-specific tasks and basic computer skills.

Licensure and Certifications

• BLS or CPR certification.
• Act 34 clearance.
