Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians (OSUP) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team. The role involves direct patient care, assisting physicians and nursing staff, and performing routine clinical tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, recording vital signs, interviewing and history taking, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and collecting samples for basic lab tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with one of the following: diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR Military Medic training OR EMT-P training OR equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures; assist with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum; perform routine laboratory tests.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant Program diploma

1 year of medical assisting experience

Military Medic training

EMT-P (Paramedic) training

Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
