Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care at our outpatient centers. The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, interviewing patients, and preparing them for examinations and treatments under physician guidance.

The ideal candidate may have a high school diploma and completion of a Medical Assistant program, or at least 1 year of medical assisting experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; MA program diploma or 1 year medical assisting experience preferred.
• Military Medic training or EMT-P (Paramedic) training also acceptable.
• Equivalency of 1 year of education and medical assisting experience may satisfy qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, BP, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments; assist with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations and carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prep treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine lab tests.
