Job summary

SIHF Healthcare in Swansea, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and support services under supervision of providers and medical staff.

The role involves taking vitals, preparing exam rooms, performing CLIA-waived tests, obtaining records, and assisting with procedures in a fast-paced clinic setting. Full-time benefits are offered, with an emphasis on accuracy, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certification/Registration preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Contact patients via phone, mail, email or patient portal regarding periodic evaluations or abnormal test results or missed appointments.
• Ensure all consents and eligibility forms are signed before procedures or vaccinations.
• Obtain medical records from hospitals or other clinics for patient care.
• Report complaints or questions from patient/family to health center or office manager; file occurrence reports as needed.
• Prepare exam room and assist doctor with exams and procedures; restock supplies.
• Take vital signs (BP, weight, height, temperature) and record results; notify provider of abnormalities.
• Answer calls and document messages in patient chart; forward to provider.
• Administer injections and document in chart; monitor for adverse effects.
• Perform CLIA-waived tests (pregnancy, strep, HIV, urinalysis, INR, glucose, A1C, etc.).
• Obtain and process laboratory specimens; perform point-of-care testing and record results.
• Perform electrocardiograms and monitor medication stock and expiration dates.
• Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications; schedule referrals and track with Athena Auth Tracker.
• Assist in training new Medical Assistants and externs; perform other duties as assigned.

Education
