Job summary

Responsibilities include taking vitals, assisting with exams, collecting specimens, administering injections, and handling basic clerical tasks to maintain patient comfort and safety. A strong, patient-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certified/Registered preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Contact patients via phone/mail/email to schedule medical evaluations or follow up on abnormal results.
• Obtain signed consents and eligibility forms before procedures or vaccinations.
• Obtain medical records from hospitals or clinics as needed for care.
• Report patient concerns to health center staff and document occurrences as needed.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures; prepare exam rooms and restock supplies.
• Record vitals (BP, weight, height, temperature, head circumference) and notify provider of unusual findings.
• Document injections and ensure medication administration adheres to the six rights and safety checks.
• Perform CLIA-waived tests (pregnancy, strep, HIV, urinalysis, etc.) and document results.
• Conduct hearing and vision tests (Snellen/ Hearing Test) and collect specimens for lab processing.
• Perform ECGs and handle specimen handling for courier or point-of-care tests.
