Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support various clinics in the Greater Charlotte area. You will perform vital signs, history taking, and screenings, assist providers with procedures, and manage lab duties including venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests, while administering vaccines as ordered.

You will also handle prescriptions, referrals, scheduling, and patient communications, maintaining a clean, compliant workspace and providing age-appropriate patient care under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required across divisions.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent per division.
• May include structured military training in lieu of a formal MA program.
• Some divisions allow 2 years of verifiable MA experience in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vitals, med reconciliation, history, screenings.
• Assists providers with procedures and lab duties.
• Performs laboratory tasks including venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT under CLIA rules.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication rights.
• Handles duties like refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross-trains for duties across clinic specialties.
• Maintains clean workspace and stocked equipment.
• Communicates effectively and escalates appropriately.
• Ensures patient age-specific care as per department standards.
