Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative operations. You will perform vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs and assist during procedures while keeping patient areas organized and ready for care.

You will also assist with chart reviews in the EMR, scheduling, patient check-in, and coordinating flow between departments to ensure timely service delivery. Prior MA/clinical experience and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as: MA, PCT or CNA; nursing or medical student with completion of a clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during routine procedures; ensures patient care areas are clean, stocked and ready for use; escorts patients to ancillary services.
• Performs point of care testing and specimen collection; implements quality controls for testing equipment; provides patients with instructions for specific tests.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies; ensures sterility, cleanliness, and valid expiration dates.
• Reviews medication lists in the EMR for final review by licensed practitioners; may retrieve Schedule VI and OTC meds under supervision; not authorized for licensed personnel duties.
• Uses EMR (OMR) to queue prescription renewals; enters orders for tests/services; documents tasks in EMR for proper billing.
