Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both administrative and clinical tasks. You will greet patients, perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assist with procedures while ensuring clinics run smoothly.

Proficiency with EMR and patient scheduling is required, along with ability to guide patients through insurance processes. This role involves daily coordination of check-ins, chart preparation, and collaboration with licensed providers to review medication lists

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience.
• Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during procedures.
• Maintains clean, stocked patient care areas and escorts patients to radiology and lab.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment; ensures it is clean, sterilized and within expiration dates.
• Reviews medication lists in EMR for final review by licensed practitioners.
• Queues prescription renewals in EMR and documents tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and documents for clinical activities.
• Performs check-in and collects copayments and verifies proxies.
• Records appointment outcomes and ensures accurate billing in the system.
• Monitors patient flow and serves as liaison between patients and staff.
