Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support coordination of patient care under the supervision of a health care provider. Qualifications

• Minimum: High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification requirements: graduates of a medical assistant program within five years OR one year of MA work in last three years must obtain certification within 120 days of hire; accepted MA certifications include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients; accurately obtains vital signs, patient history, tobacco and medication screening.
• Performs back office testing following AHN protocols.
• Assists providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training.
• Provides follow up with patients via telephone, electronic, or written means as directed.
• Prepares exam rooms and maintains inventory; ensures areas stocked.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments per policy.
• Performs lab controls and equipment checks.
• Administers and documents medications per policy.
• Documents in the EHR according to established standards.
• Performs clerical duties and may float between locations.
