Job summary

Community Health Center of New Britain is seeking a Medical Assistant to support primary care teams. You will perform pre-visit prep, document chief complaints, and conduct CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, and basic screenings.

You will liaise with providers and nursing staff to ensure smooth patient flow in a busy clinic. The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, plus current CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant course.
• Board certification (AAMA/NHA/NCCT) or AMT registration within 90 days of hire.
• Familiarity with EKGs, scheduling, word processing, and medical testing procedures.
• Organizational and strong communication skills; team focus and leadership qualities.
• Current CPR certification required (ACLS/BLS AED acceptable alternative per policy).

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-visit preparation for primary care patients.
• Use Planned Care Dashboard to ensure complete primary care visits.
• Prepare patients and document chief complaints and screening results.
• Accurately record vital signs and perform CLIA-waived tests, EKG, hearing and vision tests.
• Coordinate tests/referrals with providers and support staff to optimize patient flow.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and manage supplies/logs daily.
• Assist with infection control, universal precautions, and CPR certification upkeep.
