Job summary

Community Health Center of Middletown is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and technical support in a primary care setting. You will implement planned care items, perform CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, and vital signs, and coordinate tests and referrals for efficient patient flow.

You will liaise with patients and the health care team, maintain infection control standards, and ensure quality patient care in a patient-centered medical home environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited school is required.
• Medical Assistant board certification or registration (or obtained within 90 days of hire) is required.
• EKG use, appointment scheduling, word processing and computer skills are required.
• Sound organizational skills and accuracy are required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are required.
• Must be team oriented with leadership qualities.
• CPR certification (American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or AHA BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based guidelines for pre-visit preparation.
• Collaborate with the care team using e-huddles to ensure complete primary care visits.
• Prepare patients for provider visits according to visit type.
• Document chief complaints and results from screening tests accurately.
• Record patient vital signs.
• Independently perform CLIA-waived tests, EKG, hearing and vision tests.
• Prioritize daily tasks to improve patient flow and coordinate tests/referrals.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and manage supplies and logs.
