Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support exam rooms, coordinate patient care with the care team, perform vital signs, document in the EHR, and help with administrative tasks.

This role may involve floating between locations and requires certification within 120 days of hire; a high school diploma or MA program completion is required, with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification requirements include completing certification within 120 days of hire and accepted MA certifications (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
• Preferred: Associate's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordinating patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients, obtains vital signs, documents patient information and history.
• Reviews and updates medication lists in the EHR; pends/cues up orders per AHN protocols.
• Performs back office testing and assists with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training; follows HIPAA and privacy guidelines.
• Documents accurately in the EHR and maintains inventory in exam rooms.
• May float between physician office locations as needed.
