Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant for Northgate Internal Medicine in Allentown, PA.

The role focuses on clinical support, patient preparation for examinations, and coordination with the Care Team to manage patient records and referrals. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of clinical experience or completion of a Medical Assistant program, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required.
• Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting is preferred.
• BLS/CPR: Current or within 60 days of hire; through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• On-boarding checklist will be completed during the onboarding process to confirm mastery of skills relevant to the service line.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient’s medical record prior to the appointment.
• Pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days prior to patient’s appointment.
• Prepares patients for examination and escorts them to the exam room, updating vital signs and medication history.
• Assists with administration such as injections or immunizations within State guidelines; maintains supplies and cleanliness of exam rooms.
• Communicates with Care Team regarding hospital discharge, ED visits, labs, and referrals; participates in department meetings and quality initiatives.
