Job summary

Carbon Health Technologies Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant to support the clinical team in a fast-paced setting in Santa Clara, CA. You will assist with procedures, perform EKGs, injections, and point‑of‑care testing while handling administrative duties and patient documentation in the EHR.

You will manage phone lines, fax communications, and patient flow, ensuring safety, infection control, and high-quality patient care in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program from a recognized school.
• Current BLS certification and proficiency with EKGs, injections, and clinical procedures.
• Experience performing point-of-care testing in outpatient settings, with strong documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with clinical procedures and examinations following protocols and safety standards.
• Perform EKGs, administer injections, and conduct point-of-care testing as ordered.
• Prepare patients for visits, obtain vital signs, document histories, and update EHRs when applicable.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, equipment, and stocked supplies.
• Manage multiple phone lines and route information to clinical staff.
• Handle incoming/outgoing faxes with medical records, referrals, and labs.
• Support patient flow by rooming patients and coordinating follow-up scheduling.
• Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
• Document patient care activities accurately and promptly.

Job description

As a Part-Time Medical Assistant, you will support our clinical team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Working in the Medical Assistant department, you will be responsible for both clinical and administrative tasks, including assisting with procedures, performing point-of-care testing, managing multiple phone lines, and handling documentation via fax. This role is ideal for someone who is fast, efficient, and able to multi-task in a busy medical environment, while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and strong patient communication. You will collaborate closely with providers and other care team members to ensure a smooth and safe flow of daily operations.

What You'll Do

• Assist providers with clinical procedures and examinations in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
• Perform EKGs, administer injections, and carry out point-of-care testing as ordered by providers
• Prepare patients for visits, including obtaining vital signs, documenting histories, and updating medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, if applicable
• Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, organized, and stocked condition
• Manage multiple phone lines, including answering patient calls, taking messages, and routing information to the appropriate clinical staff
• Handle incoming and outgoing faxes, including medical records, referrals, prescriptions, and lab reports, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow-up
• Support patient flow by rooming patients efficiently, coordinating with front desk and clinical staff, and assisting with scheduling follow-up appointments as needed
• Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times
• Document all patient care activities accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner
• Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and assisting colleagues as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program from a recognized school
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with EKGs, injections, and assisting with clinical procedures
• Experience performing point-of-care testing in an outpatient or similar environment
• Ability to manage multiple phone lines professionally and efficiently
• Familiarity with using fax systems for medical records, orders, and clinical documentation
• Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced setting
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with a patient-focused attitude
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work both independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer literacy; experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred
• Ability to comply with all infection control, safety, and confidentiality regulations
• Availability to work part-time, hourly shifts as scheduled, which may include varied days and times depending on clinic needs

The pay range for this role is:

25 - 26 USD per hour (CA, Santa Clara: Santa Clara Square [CH00012CA])
