Carbon Health Technologies Inc. in Eatontown, NJ seeks a Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering timely, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced walk-in clinic. This full-time hourly role handles direct patient care, administrative duties, and documentation to keep patient flow efficient.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of MA experience, valid CMA/CCMA/RMA/NCMA, CPR/BLS, phlebotomy and EKG skills, and strong communication for a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar clinical support role, preferably in urgent care, emergency, or ambulatory care setting.
  • A current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) and CPR/BLS certifications are required.
  • Proficiency in blood draws (phlebotomy) including safe venipuncture technique and specimen handling.
  • Proficiency in administering injections, including vaccines and medications, per provider orders.
  • Ability to perform and obtain quality EKGs with proper lead placement and troubleshooting.
  • Strong patient care skills with empathy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with medical records documentation (electronic or paper), accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Professional phone etiquette and clear communication with patients, providers, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients, document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints in the medical record system.
  • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy), administer injections, and conduct EKGs as ordered.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures, maintain infection control standards.
  • Support providers during examinations and minor urgent care procedures.
  • Manage medical records with accurate documentation of encounters, treatments, and results.
  • Answer phones and route calls/messages with professional etiquette.
  • Coordinate DOT Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests training.
  • Manage patient flow to minimize wait times and communicate room status.
  • Perform basic diagnostic support such as point-of-care testing and proper specimen handling.
  • Maintain clean, safe exam rooms and restock between patients.
  • Follow clinic policies and safety/regulatory requirements in urgent care.
  • Collaborate with the team to support patient-centered, efficient care on 12-hour shifts.

Job description

The Medical Assistant in Clinic Operations supports providers in delivering timely, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, walk-in healthcare facility. This full-time hourly role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and excellent communication. You will perform direct patient care tasks, assist with clinical procedures, and manage essential administrative and documentation duties to keep patient flow efficient and ensure a positive experience for every patient who enters the clinic.

What you’ll do
  • Greet and room patients, obtain and document accurate vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints in the medical record system.
  • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy), administer injections, and conduct EKGs in accordance with provider orders and clinical protocols.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures, ensuring proper supplies, equipment, and infection control standards are maintained.
  • Support providers during examinations and minor urgent care procedures by setting up instruments, assisting as needed, and providing patient support.
  • Manage medical records, including accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatments, and test results.
  • Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries with professional phone etiquette, routing calls and messages appropriately.
  • Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests
  • Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times, including communicating with front desk, providers, and other staff regarding room availability and patient status.
  • Perform basic diagnostic support such as point-of-care testing (as permitted) and ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical environment, including cleaning and restocking exam rooms between patients.
  • Follow all clinic policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements to ensure patient and staff safety in the urgent care setting.
  • Collaborate with the urgent care team to support a patient-centered, efficient, and compassionate care environment during 12-hour shifts.

  • Strong patient care skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients of all ages in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with medical records documentation (electronic or paper), with attention to accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
  • Professional phone etiquette and clear verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) including rotating weekends and to adapt to changing patient volumes and priorities.
  • Knowledge of basic infection control practices and standard precautions in a clinical environment.
