Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support a multispecialty practice. The role focuses on safe, effective, and efficient patient care within a physician-led team. You will assist in exams, take vitals, manage charts, and coordinate referrals and labs.

Two years+ MA experience is preferred; bilingual skills are a plus. Strong communication, multitasking, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office are valued in this clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Two years+ of Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required
• Bilingual preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient’s chart
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
