Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, Texas is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a Primary Care practice. The MA will support patient care, rooming, vitals, and chart preparation.

Candidates must be certified/registered, have 2+ years of experience, and be bilingual in Spanish. Strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail are essential, with proficiency in MS Office and basic billing knowledge. Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Bilingual in Spanish required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient and taking vitals.
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint and medical history.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Ensure rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for each visit.
• Refill patient medications and obtain prior authorization.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are up-to-date.
• Assist physician in the exam room with wound care or procedures.
• Follow up on calls and document phone logs.
• Educates patient on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after visits.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members.
• Performs related duties as required.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a Primary Care medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in‑network and authorized/up‑to‑date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Bilingual in Spanish Required
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
