Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice to support comprehensive patient care. You will room patients, take histories and vitals, prepare charts, and assist with procedures in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires a certified or registered Medical Assistant with at least two years of experience, bilingual abilities, and strong communication. Travel to other CLS Health locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification.
• Two+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Bilingual proficiency required.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient.
• Interview/update patient's chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Keep rooms stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at day end.
• Refill patient medications and obtain prior authorization for medications.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are up-to-date.
• Assist the physician in exam room with wounds or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation.
• Educate patient on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Performs related duties as required.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient.
• Interview/update patient's chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation.
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line- Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s).
Travel to other CLS Health Locations.
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be bilingual
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
