Job summary

CLS Health, a Houston-area multispecialty medical group, seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinic operations. You will room patients, take vitals, update medical history, and assist physicians in procedures across multiple CLS Health locations.

The role requires CMA/RMA credentials and 2+ years in a medical setting, with strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail. Travel to CLS Health sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant required.
• Minimum two years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Must be willing to travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Attention to detail and accuracy; knowledge of billing helpful.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and updating chief complaints and medical history.
• Take vitals and prepare patient charts in advance.
• Scan documents into patient charts and verify benefits.
• Assist physicians with wound care and procedures.
• Educate patients on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedule appointments and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Maintain organized work environment and travel to other CLS Health locations.

We are Looking for:

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient's chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line- Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be willing to trave to other CLS Health locations
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
