The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab work, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider or clinical supervisor. This role requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate.
The Clinic Nurse manages patient care utilizing the nursing process under physician supervision, requiring similar competencies and safety adherence.

- Gather and document patient condition information, including lab values, pain levels, education needs, and potential complications.
- Contribute to patient assessments and care planning.
- Monitor and document patient status, participate in care interventions, and manage call volume effectively.
- Follow safety protocols, including standard precautions for exposure to hazards.
- For Clinic Nurses: contribute to assessments, participate in care development, monitor lab and vital signs, report changes, and promote patient confidentiality.
- For Home Health roles: handle environmental challenges and ensure safety during patient visits.
