Qualifications

Job description

Under the direction of the Physician and Practice Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is the first point of care in the Physician office. This position assists the physician with patient procedures and may perform routine laboratory tests. This individual works hand-in-hand with the Physician to achieve quality outcomes for the patient.

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with supplies. Prepare procedure trays as needed.
  • Triages patient calls, reviews test results, pharmacy calls, and medication reviews. Provides patient education aligned with diagnosis and standards.
  • Escort patients, check vital signs, assess needs, and document visit reasons, medications, and instructions. Complete necessary forms and ensure timely chart documentation.
  • Assist with patient procedures such as suture removal, wart and mole removal, pap smears, minor surgeries, and administer EKGs, injections, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, and venipuncture.
  • Perform lab tests, prepare specimens, operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, and maintain documentation per CLIA standards.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and referrals, record procedures, and track results.
  • Perform front office duties and other tasks as required, respecting confidentiality and safety.
  • Commit to patient satisfaction and safety, perform prior authorizations, monitor patient portals, and ensure efficient patient care.
  • Utilize AIDET & CARE principles to enhance patient experience.
Education and Experience

Required: Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting, LPN, RN program, Athletic Training, Paramedic, or EMT certification. Candidates without EMT certification may be considered for a Medical Assistant I position after a 90-day training period. Candidates with two years’ experience in a physician’s office are also considered.

Preferred: Associates Degree

Experience: One year in a medical practice

Certifications: BLS
