Medical Assistant (MA) or LPN - Family Medicine Clinic

Actual compensation ranges from $21.10 - $31.55 for MAs and $23.20 - $34.80 for LPNs, based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.

Major Responsibilities

1. Assist with patient-centered care in an outpatient clinic, performing clinical support tasks under supervision to ensure efficient patient flow.
2. Prepare and room patients for exams, obtaining vital signs and pertinent health information.
3. Perform laboratory procedures following aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
4. Assist providers with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
5. Administer routine medications as ordered, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
6. Provide patient instructions, follow through on procedures or tests, and coordinate referrals and appointments.
7. Communicate effectively with physicians, team members, and patients to ensure smooth clinic operations.
8. Perform advanced clinical tasks based on skill level, such as suture removal, catheterization, audiograms, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitoring, etc.

Licensure or Certifications

LPN: Valid LPN license and BLS certification within 6 months.

MA: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and BLS certification within 6 months.

Degrees

LPN: Practical Nursing program completion.

MA: Accredited Medical Assistant program completion.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Basic keyboarding and typing skills.
• Experience with different age groups preferred.
• CPR certification required upon hire or within 60 days; non-certified MAs must obtain certification within a year.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to complete clinic training, work under stress, and perform extended standing and sitting.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; patient handling equipment used for heavier lifts.
