Job summary

The Center for GI Health is seeking an Open Access Scheduler to play a pivotal role in coordinating appointments for GI procedures and visits. Under the Open Access Supervisor, you will screen medical intake information and schedule new and established patients accordingly.

The role emphasizes accurate data collection, insurance verification, and patient communication, with potential travel between center locations. A MA certification and medical office experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • MA certification is required.
  • Medical office experience is preferred.
  • EMR background is a plus.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams) skills are preferred.

Job description

Summary / Objective

Play a pivotal role in helping to prevent GI Cancer for patients! Our Open Access teams are dedicated to helping patients get scheduled for their procedures over the phone with our offices. Under the direction of the Open Access Supervisor, the Open Access Scheduler schedules new and established patients for procedures or office visits based on a medical intake screening they conduct.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct Open Access medical assessments with patients.
  • Review Open Access assessments that patients have filled out online and help get them scheduled.
  • Collect insurance information, review demographics and schedule procedures or office visits.
  • Review procedure prep information with patients and answer questions they may have.
Competencies
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and ICD‑10 codes.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with managers and peers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility

None

Work Environment

This position may be located at our Contact Center in Wyomissing, PA, or at the individual office location based on the needs of the practice.

Physical Demands
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive hand movement due to extended computer use.
  • Extensive phone and computer usage.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Full Time; flexible hours available.

Travel

Some intermittent travel may be required for training.
