Job description

Job Description: Medical Assistant / Licensed Practical Nurse - Family Medicine

Department: 01120 Lakeshore South Milwaukee - Family Medicine

Status: Full time

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule Details/Additional Information: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.

The actual compensation offered ranges from $21.10 to $31.55 for an MA and $23.20 to $34.80 for an LPN, based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Assist in providing patient-centered care in an outpatient setting, performing clinical support tasks under supervision to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Prepare and room patients for exams, including obtaining vital signs and updating health information.
  • Perform laboratory procedures following aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
  • Assist physicians/APPs with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
  • Administer routine medications as ordered, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
  • Provide patient instructions, follow through on procedures, tests, referrals, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team and patients.
  • Perform advanced clinical tasks based on specialty and competencies, such as suture removal, catheterization, audiograms, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, etc.
Licensure or Certifications:

LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license and BLS certification, obtained within 6 months unless exempted.

MA: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and BLS certification, obtained within 6 months unless exempted.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic keyboarding skills.
  • Experience with different age groups is preferred.
  • CPR certification required upon hire or within 60 days; non-certified MAs must obtain certification within one year.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to complete clinic training and work with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work under stress, with frequent standing and sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; patient handling equipment should be used for heavier lifts.

Pay Range:
$21.45 - $35.50
