Actual compensation ranges from $21.45 to $32.20 for an MA, and $23.65 to $35.50 for an LPN, based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering pertinent health information, including chief complaint, allergies, and medications. Monitor and complete Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures, notifying clinicians of opportunities within their scope.
  2. Perform laboratory procedures such as strep tests, wound cultures, and specimen collection, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
  3. Assist physicians or Advanced Practice Clinicians with procedures like pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, and colposcopy.
  4. Administer routine medications under physician or APC orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
  5. Follow through with procedure requests, care algorithms, appointment scheduling, and referrals, relaying questions and information appropriately.
  6. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and patients to ensure smooth clinic operations and positive patient experiences.
  7. Perform additional clinical tasks such as suture removal, lab procedures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitoring, and prescription refills, based on competencies and supervision.
  8. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, and ability to assess patient data to meet individual needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required within 45 days unless exempted by department leadership.
Education
  • GED or high school equivalency diploma.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or two years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last five years.
Experience

No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope after demonstrated competency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and team members.
  • Computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation, email, and electronic medical records.
  • Strong customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds independently; for heavier lifts, use patient handling equipment with assistance.
  • Assess and handle unique patient lifting situations on a case-by-case basis.
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills required.
  • Exposure to hazards such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids; protective clothing and equipment will be provided.
  • Operate necessary equipment effectively.
