IHA is seeking a Medical Assistant for a Geratric Primary Care Clinic in a part-time role with a day shift. The MA will support patient visits under licensed professionals, handling vital signs, EKGs, injections, phlebotomy, and clerical tasks in a collaborative clinic setting.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited MA program, with preference for CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA/CMAC certifications or equivalent externship/internship experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program with externship or internship.
  • Certification as MA preferred (CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA/CMAC).

Responsibilities

  • Room set up and patient preparation.
  • Taking vitals (manual and electronic).
  • Perform EKG.
  • Drawing blood and giving injections/immunizations.
  • Performing point-of-care testing in the office.
  • Pharmacology duties.
  • Administrative duties.
  • Assist with in-office procedures or treatments.

What You Will Do
  • Room set up and patient preparation
  • Taking vitals (Manual & Electronic)
  • Perform EKG
  • Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.
  • Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)
  • Pharmacology
  • Administrative duties
  • May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments
What You Will Need
  • Education- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.
  • Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Related Experience- Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills. Preferred: New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience caring for older adults or in a geriatric setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and compassion for aging populations
  • Ability to work with patients who may have cognitive, sensory, or mobility impairments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
