Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support a geriatric primary care clinic. You will assist licensed clinicians, prepare exam rooms, take vitals, draw blood, administer injections, perform ECGs, and assist with in-office tests and procedures to ensure a smooth patient visit.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED and completed MA training with externship or internship; certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education- High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of accredited MA program and externship/internship or EMT/Paramedic training.
  • Preferred: CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA/CMAC certification.
  • Minimum related experience: 2+ years in a community-based clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Room set up and patient preparation.
  • Taking vitals (manual & electronic).
  • Perform EKG.
  • Draw blood and administer injections/immunizations.
  • Perform in-office tests (Point of Care Testing).
  • Pharmacology support.
  • Administrative duties.
  • May assist with in-office procedures/treatments.

Medical Assistants work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. MAs are expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

What you will do:
  • Room set up and patient preparation
  • Taking vitals (Manual & Electronic)
  • Perform EKG
  • Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.
  • Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)
  • Pharmacology
  • Administrative duties
  • May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments
What you will need:
  • Education- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.
  • Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Related Experience- Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Ex­ternship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills. Preferred: New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and compassion for aging populations
  • Ability to work with patients who may have cognitive, sensory, or mobility impairments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
