Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training.
  • Minimum 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • 6+ months phlebotomy experience highly desired.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Experience with EClinicalWorks or similar EMR.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients; conduct intake, measure vitals, collect medical history.
  • Assist PCP during appointments and coordinate care with team.
  • Process patient phone messages and relay information to physicians.
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures; perform first aid as supervised.
  • Maintain OSHA compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Provide health coaching and follow up with patients via calls.

Our client is focused to have a robust clinical care team focused on the needs of their patients. Care teams are responsible for delivering excellent and compassionate primary care and coordinating the care of patients with the broader healthcare delivery system. The Medical Assistant (MA) isa critical role to support the PCP day-to-day and ensure efficiency in the care provided to patients. MAs will work closely and collaboratively with their teammates to greet and room patients. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing patient’s health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure
  • Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel
  • Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including processing of patient phone messages, including:returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices; follows up with coached patients via weekly calls
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity, have drive and focused work ethic

  • Ability to work effectively with various seniorities and diverse populations including staff, providers, members, family members, insurance carriers, vendors and market leadership
  • Strong communicator that is customer-oriented
  • Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, and find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects
  • Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e‑mail and presentation software
  • Ability to travel on occasion for company meetings
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e.foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant
  • 6+months' phlebotomy experience is highly desired
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required
  • EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
