Medical Assistant (MA) - General Pediatrics

Join us as a Medical Assistant (MA) - General Pediatrics at Advocate Health.

This position is eligible for up to a $2500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days of hire (Internals not included).

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting physicians and clinicians in delivering high-quality care to ambulatory patients. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with clinical duties such as taking medical histories and assisting in physical examinations.
  2. Acting as a liaison between patients, physicians, and clinicians.
  3. Measuring patient vital signs.
  4. Preparing and administering vaccines and medications.
  5. Documenting patient information into electronic health records.
  6. Collecting specimens for testing.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program or at least two years of recent verifiable medical assistant experience.
  • Good communication skills and experience with keyboard and computer use.
  • Familiarity with ambulatory care equipment.
  • Current AHA CPR certification.
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple sites.
  • Ability to work under stress and in difficult situations.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a changing environment.
  • Cooperative attitude and teamwork skills.
  • Sound decision-making abilities and willingness to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients, including lifting up to 35 pounds independently and using patient handling equipment for heavier lifts, with assessments on a case-by-case basis.
