Summary of Job Duties: The Medical Assistant (MA) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in Women’s Health. The MA works under the direct supervision of the clinic nurse(s) by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, assisting with medical procedures, conducting patient interviews, measuring vital signs, performing EKGs, dressing changes, administering medications, and handling administrative tasks such as scheduling and registering patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics, and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • One or more years of MA experience
  • Current BLS certification

Additional Information:

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting patients, scheduling, registering, and checking out patients
  • Collecting payments, verifying insurance
  • Transporting patients within the hospital
  • Providing direct patient care, documenting activities
  • Communicating with staff, maintaining supplies, adhering to safety protocols
  • Participating in continuing education and professional development
