An established industry player in health services is seeking a dedicated Lead Medical Assistant to join their team. The Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for two full-time positions. The current vacancies are in the Family Health Services and Behavioral Health Services Divisions.
The mission of Family Health Services (FHS) is to provide superior, comprehensive, primary medical and dental care in order to improve the health and quality of life of Solano County residents. We have a special commitment to the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are a safety net provider. To support our mission, FHS offers four conveniently located clinics in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo and mobile medical and dental vans in which we provide primary care and dental services. The outpatient primary care clinics see patients five days a week, with some weekend and evening hours offered.

A Lead Medical Assistant is needed full time for the expansion of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and to guide the work assignments for all Medical Assistants within BH, coordinate with family health clinics and other FQHCs and primary care for integration of all related BH services.
THE POSITION
In addition to performing all tasks associated with the Medical Assistant classification, the Medical Assistant (Lead) provides lead guidance and training to Medical Assistants and student interns as well as assists with clinic flow, referral processing, and staffing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience: One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to the County of Solano class of Medical Assistant.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Proof of a valid Medical Assistant certificate, Phlebotomy certificate and CPR certificate are REQUIRED by the application review date.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
COVID-19 VACCINE REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
The California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”) issued a State Public Health Officer Order (“Order”) on August 5, 2021, addressing the increase California is experiencing in positive COVID-19 cases. The Order requires workers in health care settings to be vaccinated. Individuals assigned to the clinics will be required to show proof of vaccination. For those individuals that may have a religious belief or medical reason that prevents them from taking the vaccine, they must complete and submit their request to the Department of Human Resources well in advance of the first date of employment.
The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination.
A minimum score of 70% is required to continue in the selection process, unless otherwise announced.

Education and certification verification is required for this position. All candidates must submit a copy of the following by the application review deadline:
Candidates who fail to submit a valid medical assistant certificate with the required training requirements, a valid phlebotomy certificate and a valid CPR certificate by the application review date will be disqualified from the recruitment.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS
To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE APPLICATION REVIEW DEADLINE.
Veteran applicants for initial County employment with an honorable or general under conditions discharge shall receive five (5) points added to their combined score. Disabled veterans rated at not less than 30% disability shall have ten (10) points added to their combined score. Veteran’s preference points will only be added to passing scores in competitive open examinations.
