Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Medical Assistant to support the Infectious Diseases clinic. You will collaborate with the registered nurse and attending physician to direct patient flow, assist in treatments, collect specimens, and maintain a safe ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, recording vital signs, phlebotomy when needed, and assisting with documentation and orders under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with Medical Assistant certification required.
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred.
• If phlebotomy is performed, must complete CNH phlebotomy training.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Basic computer knowledge; must pass CNH medication test and basic labs.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, schedule appointments and manage patient information for clinic flow.
• Prepare patients for visits, assemble charts, and document medical history.
• Take vital signs and assist physicians during examinations.
• Collect specimens, perform basic lab tests, and document results.
• Administer injections under physician supervision and support family communication.
