Qualifications

• Required: High school graduate or equivalent GED.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical back‑office experience as defined below.
• Ability to anticipate provider needs/ critical thinking skills that come from experience.
• Hoag Urgent Care: Must have 8 years' experience in Primary Care or Urgent Care.
• Current BLS (AHA) Certification
• Certifications Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification; CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Scheduling patients which can include follow up office visits, imaging and lab work.
• Preparation of appropriate chart elements.
• Checking vital signs.
• Rooming patients.
• Assisting with procedures.
• Pre-authorization process and liaison between providers and patient.
• Provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status of tasks.
• Ensure patient flow and communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
