Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Medical Assistant I for the South Charlotte Internal Medicine department. The role requires providing routine patient care, rooming, vitals, labs, and coordinating with providers in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include medication reconciliation, history taking, and health screenings, with a focus on patient safety and quality care. A high school diploma or GED and completion of an MA program are required; two years of MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, and screenings.
• Assists providers with procedures and performs lab duties including venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Performs CLIA-waived tests and POCT under standing orders and tracks results.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of administration.
• Performs patient messaging, scheduling, and referrals; maintains clean, stocked workspace.
• Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication and participates in training of teammates.
