Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across Charlotte area clinics. You will room patients, record vitals, review histories, and assist with procedures. Lab duties include venipuncture, specimen handling, and CLIA-waived tests, with POCT as ordered.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and an accredited Medical Assistant program, or acceptable military clinical training. BLS may be required within 45 days in some divisions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military clinical training as DD214 in lieu of program.
• 2 years verifiable full-time MA experience in last 5 years (for IL/WI, Floyd/Navicent).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required within 45 days in some divisions.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, review of allergies, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen collection, POCT, CLIA waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles referrals, scheduling, and insurance authorizations.
• Cross-trained for specialty clinic duties and patient communications.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment and safe equipment.
• Assesses patient age-related needs and communicates effectively.
